Ahhhh... I miss Thailand... (I'm almost positive the cosmetics girl in the second segment is a transvestite)

Here's some more pics:

Karaweik: The floating restaurant

A view of Shwedagong (the little guys there are kid monks)

Little kid from the mountain village enjoying his breakfast

Can't really tell from this angle, but I'm sitting in the back of a pickup truck, on the border lip of the cargo/trunk section, driving at really high speed... everyone else is sitting on the floor of the cargo/trunk for fear of falling off) Behind me is the majestic chain mountains of Chiangrai...

Little Burmese girl at the open air market in Yangoon

The man here is wearing a sarong... kind of a "male dress" like an asian kilt, I guess...

Middle to lower class home in the outskirts of Yangoon

Do NOT eat food sold on the streets of Yangoon... SERIOUSLY... you will die of diarrhea... There are countless fecal choloforms in burmese street food and it will mess you up 1000 times worst than the Mexican "revenge of Montezuma" I've had the Mexican variety from my trip to the Mayan Riviera and it doesn't compare to the Burmese one...

I think this Indian lady is a little pissed off that I didn't buy one of her pancakes fried in rancid black oil...

A Burmese sugar cane juicer... VERY refreshing...

See that on the lower right? that's a doorbell... the red rope goes all the way down at the bottom of the building... At the end of it, they attach something distinct from the other appartments so that ppl will know the difference

This little boy has "tanaka" smeared all over his face... it is made from a tree bark that has been ground up. It is basically a rudimentary sun block... it feels cool and fresh on the skin...

Long time no see...
Oy! Been a long time since I've posted anything huh? Must be wondering if I'm still alive... I guess I am, kinda... lol Just been busy with things, adjusting to my new appartment and roomates. Also, I've just come back from a 5 week trip to southeast asia that started from Singapore to Myanmar, and finally to Thailand. In Myanmar, I stayed mostly in Yangoon. I got to visit the Shwedegong Pagoda, the side streets, the local sights and smells. In Thailand, I started in Banseng, then went north to Chiangrai and even more north to the mountains to stay a few days at an Akka hill tribe village. Lots of fun and new experiences... Here's some of my fav pics:
